Live Wisely – Watch Your Words

Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. … Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. … The tongue of the righteous is choice silver … The lips of the righteous nourish many. … The lips of the wise spread knowledge. … Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. … The tongue of the wise brings healing.

The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues. … The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.  … The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom … The lips of the righteous know what is fitting.

One whose tongue is perverse falls into trouble.  … The words of the reckless pierce like swords. … Truthful lips endure forever. …   The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. … Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against a neighbor.
