This morning, Thursday, May 13, we left Venice early (745 am), via water taxi to the train station and caught the bullet train to Milan. After a brief layover, we caught a second train to La Spezia and then a local train to the tiny harborside village of Vernazza, a quaint and charming little hamlet of about 500 locals – arriving about 5 pm.
We walked down the short cobblestone main street from the train station to the harbor, located our innkeeper, Andrea, who showed us to our cozy seaview/harbor view apartment. It is lovely.
Our internet connections will be very limited and very slow until Sunday (when we’ll be in Florence), so we may not be able to post pictures until then.
But, to let you know we arrived safely and are looking forward to a couple of days hiking between the five little towns, enjoying the land, the food, and the people.
