The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble

The Lord … cares for those who trust in him.

The sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord, saying, “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.” … God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. … I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” … Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights. … As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? … The word of the Lord: “Do not be afraid. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

But whoever loves God is known by God. … God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his.” … So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.” … For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous. … The Lord watches over all who love him. … The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever.
