Reuters reports that according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consumption of a liter of sugared cola on a daily basis may raise fat buildup in the liver, in muscles and around abdominal organs.
MedPage Today reports, “Consuming beverages flavored with either sugar or artificial sweeteners was associated with a higher risk of developing hypertension,” according to research presented at the American Society of Nephrology’s annual meeting.
The Washington Post “Checkup” blog reports, “Teenagers who drink soda are more likely to carry a weapon and act violently, according to new and somewhat shocking research ” published in the journal Injury Prevention.
