If even the heavens are not pure in (God’s) eyes, how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt, who drink up evil like water! … If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot—a human being, who is only a worm! … They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Who among the gods is like you, LORD? God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. … Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives,. . . spotless, blameless. … Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
