Physicians still figuring out how to best use aspirin

USA Today reports, “Aspirin may be a cheap, century-old drug made from plants known for many centuries to have medicinal properties, including pain and fever relief.” However, physicians “are still figuring out how to best use it, and how to offer patients its benefits without exposing them to unacceptable risks.”

Although aspirin can help prevent cardiovascular events, there is a bleeding risk involved. While some research suggests aspirin may help prevent cancer, “cancer experts say they have not seen … proof.”
