Mothers

Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.

I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.

Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. … Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.

A wife of noble character … her children arise and call her blessed. … For I too was … still tender and cherished by my mother. … A nursing mother cares for her children. … Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? … As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.

Likewise, teach the older women to … urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. … A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother.

I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. … The sayings of King Lemuel—an inspired utterance his mother taught him.
