Lack of sleep opens door to health problems

In his column in the Los Angeles Times, Davis Lazarus writes that “according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 75 million Americans – more than one-quarter of the population – say they don’t get enough sleep.”

“Almost 30 million say they suffer from chronic insomnia. … This restlessness, the CDC warns, can lead to a number of chronic illnesses and conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and depression.”
