Into Newness

We were buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. … Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! … Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule. … So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. … That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. … Put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. … For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
