His Mercy

His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. … From everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him.

How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you. In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues. … Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. … The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.

“Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you,” declares the Lord. … “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” … For this is what the high and exalted One says—he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. … The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
