Good sleep is very important in maintaining weight loss

Research presented at the European Congress on Obesity found that proper sleep could help patients with obesity maintain their weight loss. The investigators performed a secondary analysis of data from the S-LITE trial and found that after a year, body mass index increased in participants who got less than 6 hours of sleep per night, and people with poor quality sleep also saw an increase in BMI.

“Our results show that there are a lot of variables that impact the regain of weight lost,” said Signe Torekov, PhD, from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, who presented the findings at the European Congress on Obesity 2022 during a press conference and as a poster.

Although the research has yet to be published in a peer-reviewed journal, it is in agreeement with other studies showing the same thing, and I though it would be a good reminder to all of us of how important a good night’s sleep is to our overall health.
