Consumers buying drugs online targeted by scammers

ABC World News reported, “Now an ABC News investigation into what can happen when ordinary people buy familiar drugs,” like diet and sleep medications “from websites that offer great deals. Only to be blackmailed by criminals waiting for them behind those websites.”

According to ABC’s Dan Harris, “the websites are cheerful and easy to use – buy prescription diet” tablets “or sleep-aids – no prescription required. But it could be a trap.”

Harris adds, “The real DEA says the scam is being run out of the Dominican Republic. And there are thousands of victims.”
