Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance … a remnant chosen by grace … I have chosen you out of the world … so that you might go and bear fruit — fruit that will last.

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth … For he chose us in (Christ) before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight … He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you … you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light … Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
