Bicycle seats may be hazardous to a woman’s sexual health

The New York Times “Well” blog reports, “Spending time on a bicycle seat, which has been linked to erectile dysfunction in men, may also be a hazard to a woman’s sexual health.” This isaccording to a study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

In 48 women who rode bicycles for at least 10 miles weekly, “researchers found that the lower the handlebars in relation to the saddle, the more a woman has to lean forward, forcing her to put a greater percentage of her body weight on the perineum,” thus causing numbness and discomfort in the genital area.
