Dr. Walt’s Newest Honor

Dr. Walt just received this note about a terrific honor he’s received from Marquis Who’s Who in America folks:

Congratulations! You’ve been named a 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Less than 5% of Marquis Who’s Who listees are selected for this honor. An accomplishment of this magnitude can be of significant value to you both professionally and personally.

Marquis Who’s Who

Dr. Walt’s response was to flip in his Bible and read from Paul’s writing in Philippians:

The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash—along with everything else I used to take credit for.

And why? Because of Christ.

Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life.

Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung.

I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him.

I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ—God’s righteousness.

Philippians 3:7-9 (MSG)

Anyway, we thought you all, his friends would want to know about this achievement. And, we guess the next step will be to strike these lines from his biography:

  4. Norrine Perkins says:

I just read, again, your books with Mr. McCusker- The Gabon Virus and The Influenza Bomb- and wondered why you two never continued the series? Being a retired Microbiologist and Med tech, I enjoy books that deal with both past and current infectious diseases, mixtures of science and history, and the political overtones that always goes along with medicine. Add to the mix, Christ, and it is extra special! Thank you for the books I thoroughly enjoyed them! (The current Ebola outbreak made me pull down your books for a re-read)
Blessing to you and your family,
    Norrine Perkins
