Experts question value of blood test for early detection of cancer

The Wall Street Journal, in an article titled “A Blood Test For Early Cancer Detection Sparks Debate” reports that earlier this month, Pathway Genomics began marketing a test called CancerIntercept Detect that the company claims can detect fragments of DNA associated with several common cancers in individuals who are otherwise healthy.

However, as the article points out, many experts contend that the test’s value has yet to be proven.

In addition, the FDA has warned the public about this company’s testing.
