A listener wonders, “Should I stop smoking by going cold turkey or see a doctor? I want to quit, but I’m embarrassed to ask for help.”
First of all, congratulations. You’re on the road to dramatically reducing cancer and heart disease risk, while increasing your chance of a longer, happier life.
If you can quit cold turkey, go for it. Pick a special date to stop, such as a birthday or anniversary, seek the prayers and support of family and friends, and plan a gift for yourself with the ton of money you’ll save.
But, if you need your doctor’s help, that’s okay. In fact, prescription treatments can greatly improve your chances of quitting.
There’s nothing embarrassing about making a positive change in your life.
