Daily tea consumption tied to numerous health benefits

NBC News reported, “Mounting evidence suggests that drinking several cups of tea per day has numerous health benefits, including lowering one’s risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and overall mortality.”

The findings from a “review of 19 studies” suggested, “that drinking at least four daily cups of black, green or Oolong tea lowered a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 17% over the span of a decade.”

These findings from the review that “involved more than one million adults across eight countries” are set to be presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting 2022.

Please note that abstracts presented at medical meetings are usually evaluated and selected by a committee of experts but have not generally undergone the same peer review process required for publication in a scientific journal. As such, the findings presented should be considered preliminary until a peer-reviewed publication is available.
