If you have heartburn at night, a simple sleeping position may help

Gastroenterology Advisor reported that research indicates that “a left lateral sleeping position may minimize nocturnal acid reflux.”

The 57-patient “prospective cohort study” revealed that “the left lateral position was associated with faster esophageal acid clearance and shorter acid exposure time compared with the right lateral and supine positions.”

The findings were published in a brief communication in the American Journal of Gastroenterology.
