Dr. Walt’s “The Magic of Family Medicine” Touched Hearts at the “The Art of Medicine Rounds” in Alabama

This last week I was honored and privileged to present the “Art of Medicine” Grand Rounds at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. The video link is below.

The practice of medicine is far more than diseases, laboratory, x-ray findings, operations, and medications. The Art of Medicine Rounds, a longstanding event held on the first Thursday of each month, was created to remind health professionals of the reason they entered their fields: people.

A well-rounded physician must not only know how to prescribe medications but also listen to patients’ concerns.

More than 70 different presenters from a broad array of disciplines, both on and off the UA campus, have presented at the Art of Medicine Rounds since Family Medicine Professor Dr. Alan Blum and Health Sciences Library Director Nelle Williams initiated the series in August 2012.

Alan Blum, MD, who is a man I have deeply admired for three decades, holds the Gerald Leon Wallace, M.D., Endowed Chair in Family Medicine at the College, is internationally known for his passionate and satirical efforts to counteract the promotion of cigarettes and other killer products.

I presented the topic, “The MAGIC of Family Medicine,” on Thursday, November 4, 2022. The hour-long recording is available here.

I hope it’s a blessing for you.
