Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord

Keep watch over the door of my lips. … Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. … The tongue of the righteous is choice silver … The lips of the righteous nourish many. … The lips of the wise spread knowledge. … Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. … The tongue of the wise brings healing.

The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues. … The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.  … The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom … The lips of the righteous know what is fitting.

One whose tongue is perverse falls into trouble.  … The words of the reckless pierce like swords. … Truthful lips endure forever. … The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. … The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. … Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against a neighbor.
