Bad company corrupts good character

He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. … A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. … Don’t you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?

Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared. … The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

A perverse person stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends. A violent person entices their neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good. … Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. … do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths … for their feet rush into evil. … These men lie in wait for their own blood; they waylay only themselves! … Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the lives of those who get it.
