A Lamp

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. … Direct my footsteps according to your word.

I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded. My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled. … When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life. … Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” … Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. … We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. … For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. … You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light. … My God turns my darkness into light. … There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
