Content in His Love

We know and rely on the love God has for us.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. … This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

The Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. … For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. … He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. … Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. … I lay down my life for the sheep. … The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. … We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
