Dance to the Lord

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people .

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: … a time to dance. … Then Miriam the prophet took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. … Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might. … When (the older son) came near the house, he heard music and dancing.

Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever. … with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres. … Celebrating with all their might before the Lord, with castanets, harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals. … Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. … Again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful. … Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
