Jesus, Our Sacrifice – 2

Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and … the LORD makes his life an offering for sin.

For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. … Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. … I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. … I will heal their waywardness and love them freely. … Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
