A Different End

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. My Father’s house has plenty of room; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope … and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade … kept in heaven for you.

Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who … will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever … Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away … Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
