Good Desires

I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Desire without knowledge is not good—how much more will hasty feet miss the way! … The desire of the righteous ends only in good … what the righteous desire will be granted … Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God … by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness … prompted by faith.

Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart … He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them … May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed … The desires of my heart turn night into day.

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

We … desire to live honorably in every way … Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you … I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.

  1. Praying that God shows favor on your daily devotional endeavor! Not sure If I could keep up with a daily writing schedule! God has been prompting me to do something similar, but thankfully hasn’t put it on my heart for every day. He always has such great surprises for us!

    • Thanks for the prayers, Robin. They are a precious gift. I hope you’ll help us, literally, spread the Word.

The development of this devotional started in about 2001 … so, it’s been over a decade in the making. Most of the daily work is posting each devotional, developing the hyperlinks to an online Bible, and updating the Scripture index tab.

Ongoing prayers appreciated … but we cling to the assurance that His Word will not return void!
