Anxiety weighs down the heart

So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body. … What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. … Have faith in God. … Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. … Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. … You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? … So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. … Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. … Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
