Daily sugared cola consumption increases belly and liver fat

Reuters reports that according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consumption of a liter of sugared cola on a daily basis may raise fat buildup in the liver, in muscles and around abdominal organs.
Researchers arrived at this conclusion after following 47 overweight or obese participants for six months after randomizing them to a liter of diet cola, sugared cola, water, or milk drunk on a daily basis.
When the study finished, the sugared cola drinkers had up to 25% more abdominal fat and up to 50% more fat in their muscles and livers.
