Note to Senator Obama: Children are a Blessing, Not a “Punishment”
In my opinion, Senator Barack Obama owes every mother, especially single moms, an apology.
At a town hall meeting in Pennsylvania, Obama commented on what he believes is the importance of teaching both comprehensive sex education and abstinence to prevent HIV/AIDS.
But almost no one on either side of that heated controversy was prepared for the shocking remark that followed:
“The most important prevention is education, which should include … teaching the children … you know, that sex is not something casual… “
So far, so good. But, he goes on …
“Look, I’ve got two daughters – 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first about values and morals…”
Even better. But then, the bomb …
“But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at age 16.”
What? Does Senator Obama really believe the child of an unmarried teen mom is a “punishment”? Does he believe that the child of an unmarried teen is in a different or lower class? That, irrespective of who a child’s parents are that the child is a curse?
I guess I see it differently. Children – all children – are purely and simply a blessing from the Lord.
