1) Family Update

As I write this, we are in the midst of our first blizzard. In the next 36 hours we’re expecting up to 18 inches of snow and up to 40 mile-per-hour winds – white out conditions for sure. It makes me very grateful for the blessing of a warm home.

Our new home at “The Farm” is coming along well. The framing is nearly done, and once the snow from the blizzard is swept off, the trusses will be going up. Here’s a picture of the view from our family-room-to-be:

We hope to move in by early summer and Barb will be putting our home on the market in a week or two. Prayers for a rapid sale will be appreciated!

3) “Grace Prescriptions Live” Conferences Set for Chicago and Nashville

One of the joys of my ministry time is teaching health professionals the principles of how they can “Incorporate Spiritual Care in Their Practice.” I do this with a course called Grace Prescriptions, which I co-wrote with my dear friend, Bill Peel, DMin, the Founding Executive Director of the Center for Faith & Work at LeTourneau University. If you or a health professional you know, might be interested in attending a live conference in Nashville or Chicago, the details are below.

NASHVILLE, February 26-27, 2016

  • When: Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2:30-9:00 PM and Saturday, February 27, 2016 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
  • Where: Brentwood Baptist Church – 7777 Concord Road Brentwood, TN 37027.
  • Register on the EventBrite page here. Attendees are required to register ahead of time.
  • Dinner on Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday, will be provided.
  • We encourage you to make use of this resource to learn how God can use you to dispense Grace Prescriptions in your practice as a health professional.

CHICAGO, March 18-19, 2016

  • When: Friday, March 18, 2016 from 1:30-8:00 PM and Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • Where: Lawndale Christian Health Center’s Skyline Conference Room (4th floor of 3750 W. Ogden Ave, Chicago, IL, 60623).
  • Register on the EventBrite page here. Attendees are required to register ahead of time.
  • The registration fee will be $100 for healthcare providers and $25 for students.
  • Dinner on Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday, will be provided.

4) Events of the last month

  • Jan 8-12: Barb and I flew to Key West to spend a few warm days touring the Keys.
  • Jan 13-17: I attended a RBRVS Update Committee meeting in Miami.

5) Upcoming Events

  • Feb 9: I’ve been invited to speak to the Christian Fellowship at the Rocky Vista School of Medicine in Denver on the topic of “Spiritual Assessments in Clinical Care.”
  • Feb 15: I’ll attend a Life Network Board Meeting in Colorado Springs, a ministry of which I have a great deal of admiration and respect.
  • Feb 25-28: I’ll be with my friend, Bill Peel, DMin, as we co-teach a Grace Prescriptions Conference in Nashville.
