2) Today’s Christian Living “Ask Dr. Walt” column

I enjoy being able to answer questions from the readers of Today’s Christian Living magazine in my “Ask Dr. Walt” column. Here are the Q&As from the November 2019 issue You can click on any you’re interested in reading. I hope you’ll consider getting a subscription:

  • Five Habits to Live Ten Years Longer (or More)!
    • I read a news story that said something about some simple lifestyle changes that folks could consider that would allow them to live ten years longer than normal.  It almost sounds too good to be true. Any idea what they were talking about?
    • — Looking for Longevity in Louisiana
  • Four Numbers You Need to Know
    • Our granddaughter is in a health class and says that everyone in our family needs health screening to determine if our “health numbers” are good or bad. She says good numbers will help us live better and longer. She’s got a lot of enthusiasm but is the effort worth it? And, what are “good numbers”?
    • —Numerically Nosey in Michigan

3) Answers to Last Month’s Prayers

  • Nov 7-8: Thanks for praying for my speaking at the annual Global Missions Health Conference at Southeast Christian Church (25,000 members) in Louisville, KY. Almost 4,000 health professionals who are considering missions work attended. I addressed a standing room only crowd on “How to be an Everyday Missionary.” Your prayers were answered big time. Here are just a few of the wonderful notes I received:
    • Hi Dr. Walt — I had to reach out and let you know that our 22-yr old son, Robbie just heard you speak at GMHC this week and said you were the highlight of the conference for him! He’s a Senior pre-med student at Grove City College and serves as the President of their undergrad CMDA group. At CMDA they’ve been watching your video series and he says it’s fabulous, too. Thank you for continuing to speak integrity and godly values into the next generation of young physicians!
    • Thanks for your session at GMMC related to providing spiritual care to patients, I was impacted by the content! I read your Bryson City Series in the past and really enjoyed them. I was saddened by the information in the final book [Bryson City Secrets] and I hope your children and your family have healed from that traumatic time. You have a gift for words and for sharing Christ! It was cool to realize that I “knew you” through your work and I was able to see you live and in person. I didn’t get to speak to you because the line was long.
    • Presently, I am mentoring a group of medical students and residents at a local Gospel Rescue Mission Free Clinic. It is a joy seeing them learning how to integrate prayer into their patient visits at the clinic (Open Door Mission, Omaha, Nebraska).
    • Thank you for your work!  We are going to take it home and implement it and try to be the salt and light that Jesus wants us to be!!!
    • Thank you so much for your talk! I hope to implement your resources better as an everyday missionary.
    • I am excited to continue to share Christ with patients and was encouraged by your wisdom!!
  • Nov 22: I attended the International Board meeting of Morning Star Development. It is a blessing being involved in a small way with their special work.
  • Nov 28: We shared the holiday with daughter, Kate, and son-in-love, Charles. It was a restful and relaxing time—our favorite holiday of the year—Thanksgiving.
