Study links teen pregnancy to sexy TV shows

A new report suggests that television may be playing a starring role in your child’s sex education. Exposure to some forms of TV is a corrupting influence on children, leading teens who watch sexy programs into early pregnancies and children who play violent video games to adopt aggressive behavior, researchers said on Monday.

Study Backs Up Dr. Walt’s Recommendations for Overweight Kids

Reuters Health  is reporting a new study suggesting that children who regularly exercise and limit their time in front of the TV and computer are much less likely to be overweight or obese.

Background TV disruptive for very young children

Reuters Health is reporting that having the television on in the background while pre-schoolers play with their toys disrupts their efforts to sustain attention, even when they don’t pay much attention to it, and may harm their development. The research is published in the current issue of the journal Child Development.

Teens with TV in their bedroom highly unhealthy

A new study confirms what I’ve been saying for years – children who have a TV in their bedroom are less likely to be highly healthy or have healthy habits.

This study followed 781 teens and reported on their television viewing patterns, study habits and grades, diet and exercise, and interaction with their family.

Compared to those teens with no TV in the bedroom, the 2/3’s of teens that did watched TV four to five hours more per week.
