The Lincolnian View of Abortion – Part 1

Bioethics
Once upon a time, I did an ethics paper on "The Lincolnian View of Abortion." I took all of the Lincoln-Douglas, and simply substituted the word "abortion" for the word "slavery." With minimal editing, the Lincoln-Douglas debates could be a debate on abortion today. Here's the third in a series of conversations I'm having with another Family Physician about the issue of abortion. (more…)

New documentary features Dr. Walt and exposes abortifacient qualities of the birth control pill

Bioethics, Children's Health, Marriage and Family Health, Woman's Health
A documentary called “28 Days on the Pill” has been released that seeks to expose the abortifacient properties of the birth control pill. The documentary explains that many forms of birth control pills contain progesterone, which thins the endometrium, the walls of the uterus, which in turn causes it to become inhospitable to newly conceived human life, causing an abortion. What’s the most proficient killing machine in the United States? It’s not the military!

Bioethics, Marriage and Family Health, Medical Economics, Woman's Health
The most proficient killing machine in the U.S. is the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) – and according to their new annual report PPFA is committing more abortions than ever. Not only that, they bring in over $1 billion a year – a third from our tax dollars. "For decades now, Planned Parenthood has operated the most proficient killing machine in the United States," said Douglas R. Scott Jr., president of Life Decisions International (LDI) in a recent interview. "And for decades, the machine has killed more preborn children than the year before."   More Information: (more…)

Why Obama cannot support Abortion and Marijuana

Alternative Medicine, Bioethics, Children's Health, Marriage and Family Health, Woman's Health
Our local newspaper, the Gazette, opines, “It seems too good to be true, this new quote from the White House. Unless President Barack Obama denounces it, and humiliates White House Spokesman Nick Shapiro, he must back off his support of the radical pro-abortion Freedom of Choice Act. He must oppose any federal gun ban that might counter a state law. If the statement is true, Obama supports states rights more than federal control.” And this is great news for those who are pro-life. More Information: (more…)

The mother of octuplets versus her doctor. Who should choose? Whom should society support?

Bioethics, Woman's Health
A recent editorial here in Colorado Springs reported: An unemployed, divorced woman with six children - living with her bankrupt parents in their teensy weensy home - gave birth to eight babies after having fertilized eggs implanted in her uterus. At least one of her older six children has autism. For a variety of reasons, people are scandalized. Most people have religious or moral objections to this multiple birth. It's hard to believe these children will get the care they need without becoming responsibilities of the state. It's hard to imagine they won't suffer.  Yet, as shocking as it sounds, there are many who say that her right to this travesty outweighs her doctor’s right to refuse to participate. Does this make any sense? More Information: (more…)

HEADLINE: “Abortion not seen linked with depression.” Don’t believe it for a second.

Bioethics, Mental Health, Woman's Health
Reuters is reporting today that “No high-quality study done to date can document that having an abortion causes psychological distress, or a "post-abortion syndrome," and “efforts to show it does occur appear to be politically motivated.” They base this upon a new report by U.S. researchers. Should you believe this? Not for a New York second. More Information: (more…)

Pro-abortion Medical Student Learns the Grim Reality about Abortion

Bioethics, Children's Health, Woman's Health
A recent edition of the Washington Post Magazine had a feature about a pro-abortion medical student, Lesley Wojick, deciding whether to become a professional abortionist or not. When Wojick observed an actual abortion, "[t]he patient was in obvious pain. Her screams gave Lesley the chills, and she thought she might throw up." When one woman sought an abortion at 20 weeks, Wojick realized that on her neonatal rotation "she had tried to keep similar-sized babies alive." More Information: (more…)

Barack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress. Yet there are Catholics and Evangelicals-even self-identified pro-life Catholics and Evangelicals - who aggressively promote Obama's candidacy and even declare him the preferred candidate from the pro-life point of view.  What is going on here? The War on Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Bioethics, Children's Health, Health Headlines, Woman's Health
As part of recent coverage on lowering abortion rates, Time magazine highlighted the role of the pregnancy center when it wrote, "(There is) evidence that the quiet campaign for women's hearts and minds, conducted in thousands of crisis pregnancy centers around the country, on billboards, phone banks and Web sites is having an effect." But if abortion rights supporters such as Planned Parenthood and others have their way, centers like LifeCare won't be available for women like Samantha. More information: (more…)

“Safer prenatal Down’s syndrome test” will likely result in more deaths among unborn children

Bioethics, Children's Health, Health Headlines, Marriage and Family Health, Mental Health, Woman's Health
A new prenatal blood test may, in the near future, be used to determine if an unborn baby has Down's syndrome without the risk to the unborn child posed by invasive testing methods such as amniocentesis. Obama – An Abortion Extremist

Bioethics, Children's Health, Health Headlines, Woman's Health
Gary Bauer says, “Senator Barack Obama may be the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever nominated for president of the United States by a major political party.” How extreme? When Pastor Rick Warren asked Obama at this weekend’s Saddleback forum, “Have you EVER voted to limit or reduce abortions,” Obama used 200 words of fluffy rhetoric to hide his real answer –- “No!”  My Take?
