Bill would protect babies after 20 weeks

In an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times, by Charles C. Camosy, titled, Why adding family leave could save the GOP's bill to ban abortion after 20 weeks, he writes, "A GOP-sponsored bill — the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act — which would ban abortion beyond 20 weeks except in cases of rape or when the life of the mother is at risk, has already passed in the House of Representatives." Americans eat up to 15 hours a day, study says

The Los Angeles Times reports a study by researchers at the Salk Institute in La Jolla “that detailed the consumption patterns of just over 150 nondieting, non-shift-working people in and around San Diego for three weeks,” showed “that a majority of people eat for stretches of 15 hours or longer most days – and fast for fewer than nine hours a night.” (more…)

“Herbal Viagra” taken by Lamar Odom was a known problem

According to ConsumerLab.com, "It was reported this week that former NBA star, Lamar Odom, entered a coma after taking as many as 10 pills of the 'herbal Viagra' formula Reload, along with cocaine." ConsumerLab had posted an FDA warning about Reload on June 13, 2013, indicating that it illegally contained sildenafil, the active compound in Viagra.  (more…)

The Freedom2Care blog, in an article titled, Nurse's wrenching testimony about baby denied care illustrates need for legislation, reports, "A nurse's wrenching testimony speaking to the need for ensuring that all babies born alive receive needed care can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/NurseBaby (at the 44:47 mark). Doctors had mistakenly determined that a developing baby had severe deformities, so it had been predetermined not to do anything to keep the baby alive when born.
