US News & World Report reports that it has released its fourth annual Best Diets – “a collection of 32 in-depth diet analyses, reviewed and rated by a panel of nutrition and health experts.” The judging panel “deemed the DASH diet the best overall, as it outscored most other plans in its healthiness and likelihood to ward off diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.”
Panelists also ranked Weight Watchers the best diet for weight loss, “as well as the easiest diet to follow and the top diet among commercial plans.”
CBS News reports on its website that the popular Paleo Diet came in last place. The Paleo Diet, which “is based on the theory that humans were … not made to eat processed foods and products with carbohydrates,” was determined by reviewers to have “no clear-cut proof” of weight loss. The panelists gave the Paleo Diet 2 stars out of 5.
ABC News reports on its website that the magazine “also ranked diets by individual category, including Best Diabetes Diet, Best Heart-Healthy Diet and Easiest Diet to Follow.”
