When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, a little extra physical and mental preparation can mean the difference between success and failure.
Resolutions require hard work, especially if you’re changing a major habit. Research shows nearly forty-five percent of us make New Year’s resolutions, but less than ten percent will achieve our goal with the first try. So don’t expect instant success or lose heart when the going gets rough. Stick with your resolution for the long haul.
One way to help with that commitment is through accountability. Share your goals with someone who can support you, cheer you on, and pray for you. An accountability partner can also make sure you’re sticking to your plans. Don’t go it alone.
And despite the work, make your resolution fun. Celebrate your progress, and reward yourself along the way. That’s a goal worth keeping.
