New treatment for colic: Probiotics

Good news for parents with infants that suffer from colic. Lactobacillus and other probiotics are now being successfully used for infantile colic. As many as 28% of newborn infants experience colic. Some experts believe that abnormal gut flora might be responsible.
New clinical research shows that giving a specific Lactobacillus reuteri product (Probiotic Drops, BioGaia AB — 100 million CFUs daily) can significantly reduce daily crying time in colicky infants.
Keep in mind that not all probiotics are the same.
For now, I suggest that parents stick with the product that has been clinically studied.
