Dr. Walt interviewed in article about alternative medicines

I was interviewed for and mentioned in an article by American Medical News on natural medicines (herbs, vitamins, and supplements).

AMA News reported that “today, with more than half of US adults using dietary supplements, discussing alternative medicines during office visits is a common part of primary care.”

Physicians say that an increase in patients taking or asking about alternative medicines is attributed to “patients becoming more involved in their care; the high cost of prescription drugs, which leads some people to seek natural alternatives; and an aging population searching for remedies to chronic illnesses.”

The article says, “Dr. Larimore, a physician who practices in Colorado Springs, said physicians can access dependable websites to find information on the health benefits and risks of supplements” using sites such as “the Office of Dietary Supplements, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and ConsumerLab.com.”

Actually, I recommend the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database and ConsumerLab.com. At least she got one of them right.
